About

Sheri paintingWhen I was three years old, I told my parents that I wanted to be a violinist or an artist. The closest I got to the violin was ten years of guitar lessons, but art has been an enduring passion.

My biggest joy comes from painting people – challenging myself to achieve an accurate likeness whilst keeping my brush marks lively, colourful and interesting. It’s the unexpected hints, marks and colours that can bring a painting alive.

I’m also hugely privileged that I can use my art skills to bring hope to others, using a proportion of my art income each month to sponsor a child with Compassion.

My other life

As well as painting and drawing, I’ve worked as an illustrator, book designer and art director for many years, and hold an illustration degree. I have had essays published in two Illustration books, have juried on national and international illustration competitions, have spoken internationally about illustration and have won awards for my art direction.

Art groups

I’m a member of and exhibit with two East Grinstead based art groups: Example; and the London Road Group, which also runs life drawing on alternate Saturdays in East Grinstead.
