Here’s another Ashdown forest painting. This one shows the openness of the area, on the high ground, with it’s dry grass and gorse bushes with their characteristic yellow flowers. I’m just painting with acrylic at the moment – a bit pregnant, trying to keep away from the white spirit, even though it’s supposedly low odour. I’ve applied my usual style here, mark making, fresh paint and pattern rather than soft mixing of the colours. I like fresh brush work in my paintings.
