I’m very pleased to say that two of my paintings will be exhibited in a new exhibition from The Chelsea Art Society – The Wedlake Bell Award, this September. The exhibition takes place at 340 King’s Road, London, SW3 5UR from Monday 13th – Sunday 19th September 2021. Open Monday to Saturday 10-6pm; Sunday 10-1pm. Do pop along if you’re in the area.
I’ll be exhibiting one of my still life pieces, ‘Vintage Poached Egg’ and ‘Lights Out’, a birthday cake scene. Vintage Poached Egg was created during a 30 in 30 still life painting challenge – I’d grown up with the pan, possibly from my parents wedding pan set, which I’ve since nabbed. I’ve made many a poached egg in it but have decided to take it out of commission recently.
The other painting, ‘Lights Out’ is one that speaks of family traditions – the home made chocolate cake, carefully carried from kitchen to lounge with candles blazing.
Normally the society holds an open exhibition at Chelsea Town Hall but, due to the pandemic, it was forced to cancel the show two years running. This year, the Society will hold two exhibitions back to back. The first, ‘Chelsea, naturally‘ features artwork by members of the Chelsea Art Society, running at 340 King’s Road from 6th – 12th September, followed straight after by ‘The Wedlake Bell Award‘ exhibition, showcasing the work of 54 non-member artists who have previously exhibited with the society.
The exhibition is sponsored by Wedlake Bell, who have generously sponsored an award worth £1000, which will go to one of the artists in the exhibition.
All of the work is already on the Chelsea Art Society’s website, so do click here for a browse of all avaible works in the Wedlake Bell Award. For the ‘Chelsea, Naturally’ show, click here to view the galleries and available work.
