Developing as an artist is as much about improving your painting technique as it is about developing a thick skin. Whether that’s due to showing your work or entering competitions. Over the years I have entered a few, though, like MANY artists, have inevitably received the kindly worded rejection letter. Even very well-renowned artists get rejection letters, I heard from a well known recipient of one! So it was with much joy, last week, that I received the news that I was one of 21 finalists for the Ecclestone Art Holly Bush Emerging Woman Painter Prize!
The competition is run annually, and thanks to an artist friend of mine who suggested I enter, my piece ‘The Journey Home’ has made it into the exhibition at Burgh House, Hampstead from 25-29 July. I’m now preparing it for delivery and final judging, where it will join the other 20 paintings – all of them superb – for the judging panel to decide on a winner and runner up. Regardless of winning, I’m absolutely thrilled to have been selected and can’t wait for the private view next week!
