Here is the latest life painting in oils. Again, it’s a relatively quick study from the life drawing group. It must have taken about 2 hours all told, maybe 2 and a half. I am posting some work in progress shots too. I started with a mid-tone ground, a mix of white & raw umber acrylic. Once that’s dry I start in oils sketching out the composition with a diluted (white spirit) amount of raw umber. When I’m happy that I can fit the model in I overlay the underdrawing with a patchwork of colours. I put in a basic background first, to avoid having to fit one around her later. I may do some more to the surrounding rags & background at a later date. It’s too overly blue at the moment I think.
