Art imitating life, what with the incredible downpours we’ve had in the UK lately, I’ve been working on a series of rain paintings, more specifically London-based commuter rain paintings. What all started with one postcard sized painting for the Twitter Art Exhibit 2015, earlier in the year in Norway, has resulted in a collection of rain paintings!
I commute to London a few days a week and whilst there have rather taken advantage of capturing fellow commuters on foot in the rain – mostly from around the London Bridge, Canon Street area but sometimes further afield. Each piece is painted in oil on primed art postcard, all then mounted and framed. The 8 paintings have recently been on display in the 2015 Adventure Exhibition at the Jubilee Community Centre, East Grinstead which comes down today, alas.
Here are the eight paintings that went on display. A few have sold but do get in touch if take your eye! They’ll be coming to my Artfinder shop shortly!
And what is more, I am running a competition on my Facebook page to win one! Head on over to https://www.facebook.com/SheriGeeArtist/ before 10pm Sunday night, January 17th 2016, for a chance to win this little beauty at the top! You’ll need to like my page and comment with an song lyric or title appropriate to the painting (so it could be rain based, London based etc). I’ll be choosing a winner at random on Sunday night – then posting the painting, unframed, signed, titled and dated on the back, to the winner, wherever they may be. Competition details on the Facebook post. Good luck!
