Portrait prize draw!

Prize Draw form

As part of my Townscape portrait project, I was keen to give something back. Not everyone thinks of commissioning or can afford to commission a portrait, but visitors to The Jubilee Community Centre had the chance to win a portrait commission by filling in my prize draw form, from May 30th to September 3rd. Well, the time is now up and the draw is complete!

Following a lovely article in this week’s East Grinstead Courier about my search for one more person for the hall of fame, I extended the deadline very slightly giving their readers chance to enter. On Thursday September 3rd, I excitedly skipped over to the Jubilee Community Centre, where Simon Elliott kindly agreed to draw a name out of the box for me, choosing a sitter who will grace the walls alongside his own portrait.

And the winner is…. [cue drum roll] Richard Lawrence!! Richard requested a portrait of his wife, Margaret Lawrence, recently retired optometrist of Lawrence i-care Opticians in Middle Row where she worked for 30 years and I’m sure is known by many in the community. I’m really looking forward to catching up with Margaret and beginning the portrait. Watch this space for progress reports!

And I want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who entered!  Sorry there’s only one winner.
